Day 1 Paragraph At Mt. Cardigan on day 1 we saw lots of examples of regions. When we were standing in the meadow next to the lodge I looked up at the side of Mountains Cardigan and Firescrew. I saw different alpine zones. An alpine zone is a region on the side of the mountain which has a certain climate and number of trees as well as a size. The summits of mountains are commonly smaller than the bases of mountains because they are like a cone, the top (summit) is the tallest point but it is smaller than the base. Another difference between the summit and the base is the summit is higher altitude so it is difficult for plants to grow there. So the summit is small rocky with almost no vegetation, whereas the base has lots of vegetation and is very large.
