Summary: (PARAGRAPH FORM, Who, What, Where, Why, When) Columbus is an exploer who in 1492 sailed the ocean blue. He went to the king and queen of 1492 Spain and convinced them to give him three boats, a crew and portable goods. He asked them to give him these things so he could sail across the Atlantic Ocean to what he thought was Asia but really was the Carribean. Columbus lied to his crew about lots of things to convince them to continue on their journey east. Another thing he lied about was seeing land first because who ever spoted land first recieved a bag of gold. There is a holiday now honoring him which is celebrated in North Amerca and various contries through out the world. Some people believe that because of Columbus's lies the name of "Columbus Day" should be changed to "Indigenous People's Day". There is a group of people who have gotten together to try to convince the goverment to change the name of Columbus Day.
