from October 4th
At the start of school all the students on the second section loaded their gear into a trailer and got on a bus. We drove to Cardigan mountain. The drive there was only three hours but felt like forever I couldn't wait to get there. Once the bus arrived at the AMC hut everyone rushed out of the buss and got their gear and put it all in their rooms. After we were introduced to the AMC huts staff and played some games but I can't remember them. Then we were separated into our groups and met our AMC guides, i had Josh he was an awesome guide. As soon as we stopped for lunch Mr. Wollner joined our group and encouraged us to sketch the landscape. Josh then took us on a mid day hike to Welton Waterfalls as we hiked we interacted and affected the environment, climbing rocks and trees, eating spearmint plants and smelling different flowers. Halfway through i had to take off my jacket because it was so hot in the undergrowth when we got to a river crossing I slipped and fell in the water and got soaked in river water, which is an example of the environment affecting me Once we had been at the falls for a while Mr. wollner took us to see a basswood tree, it was covered in holes and made a drum like sound when you knocked on it. After that we hiked back to the hut we had free time, during that time my friends and me played some football and frisbee. Directly after that it was time for dinner. Dinner was spaghetti and meatballs, it was amazing. after that i took a shower, they weren't very good the shower head didn't spray out that much water it was time for bed. After I went upstairs to change and go to bed it wasn't very hard to fall asleep the beds were very comfortable and I couldn't wait for Day Two.
