Summary: Columbus and his crew set off to the Canary Islands for good winds. His voyage of discovery in 1492 was about setting off to find China. He went to the Canary Islands to gather supplies for the voyage. There was also a supposed rumor that he went there in love with Beatriz de Peraza y Bobadilla.
