On December 5th, Christopher Columbus landed in the south eastern part of Cuba. At this point, Christopher Columbus believed that he was somewhere at the beginning of Asia. Christopher Columbus thought he was near China. Because Christopher Columbus thought he was in Asia, Christopher Columbus decided to call the natives Indians. During Columbus's explorations he noted that he saw grasses near springs with the wonderful scent of flowers. Christopher Columbus mentioned that there were lots of wildlife. Many of the sights in this land they had journeyed to was new for them. Christopher Columbus hoped he would find rare and valuable spices. In this new land, Christopher Columbus tried new foods. Christopher Columbus had discovered and learned about many of the natives traditions and lifestyle.
2. Natives,to prove that he went to Asia, he brought back natives. He thought that these ntives would make good workers.
3. Spices, he returned with spices to show that he was in Asia. At the time, Asia was known for having valuable spices
4. Pepper (bulb like pepper), Christopher Columbus knew that he should bring pepper because it was valauble, and he found the hot bell that we know today as the pepper.
5. Parrots, the natives offered Columbus parrots in trade for small glass beads and other materials.
6. Hammocks, sailors went into the natives houses and found that the beds looked like nets. They were called hammocks.
7. Cotton, cotton balls were given to the sailors in return for the glass beads and hawk's bells.
8. Corn, natives showed Christopher Columbus and his crew corn. They broguht it back with them to England.\
9. Royal palms, Some of the first trees sighted by Christopher Columbus and his crew.
10. Gold, Columbus journeyed back with amounts of gold to show the wealth of what he thought was Asia.
