Summary of the Article

After Christopher Columbus got to the Americas he found many undiscovered things. He sailed from island to island until he came to Cuba. On December 5, Christopher Columbus landed on the southeastern most tip of Cuba beliving that he had landed on mainland Asia. Columbus belived that he had found the wealth of Asia which was in a golden age. He found gold and riches. Spices were coveted by europe Columbus found chilli powder which he was told was pepper. He named the island Cuba, Juana after the King and Queen of Spain's daughter.

Things unknown to Columbus

Hammocks: Columbus found natives sleeping in beds that resembled nets.

Corn: Columubs found corn which he thought was a grain like millet that could be used for flour.

Tobacco: Columbus found people smoking tobacco and brought it back to europe. Columbus sold people it could fix problems lung problems like asthma.

Chili powder: When Columbus wanted peper and ended up bringing back chili powder.

Royal palms: Royal palms are much different from palms found on the coast of Africa.
