Odiorne Tidal Zones

This image shows the tidal zones!
The first zone is the dry zone. This zone is never submerged in water. It is, obviously, dry! The next zone is the black zone. It is called this because the rocks are covered in a strange substance called cyano bacteria. Cyano bacteria makes the rocks look black. The black zone gets splashed with water on occasion, which is why it is also called the splash zone. The zone after the black zone is the white zone. It is splashed with water moreso than the black zone. This zone is called the white zone because even though these rocks are also coated in cyano bacteria, they have white barnacles glued to them.
