This is an image of the different zones at Odiorne.


The top zone of rock is called the black zone, its called the black zone for the greenish black colored cyano bacteria that lines the rocks. The lower zone is called the white zone, because of the barnicles that cover the black rocks. The next zone, is called the red zone. Its called the red zone because of the red algae that lives on the rocks, Irish moss. Below are pictures of each rock layer.
