The Three Island Groups

In the Caribbean Sea, there are over 7,000 islands. All of these islands are separated into three main groups; the Greater Antilles, the Lesser Antilles, and the Bahamas. The Greater Antilles consist of four large islands. These islands are Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico . These Islands are very mountainous and very different than the other islands. Many different Islands are part of the Lesser Antilles. Two of which are Montserrat and Antigua and Barbuda . These islands and all of the other islands are low sand and coral islands. They are formed when coral dies and grows on top of each other until the coral reaches above the ocean surface. The last group of islands are the Bahamas. These islands are off the coast of Florida, USA, and North of Cuba.

Answer: The first islands Columbus landed on were various islands of the Bahamas. He also soon after landed on Hispaniola and South America coasts.
