Human Environment Interaction at Cardigan: Day 2

Yellow Group (D2B2)

During day 2 at Cardigan Mountain, our group hiked up Firescrew, then Cardigan, and headed to Rimrock and South Peak. Through the day we saw many different things that had to do with Human Environment Interaction. When we first started the trail to Firescrew, we came across a human made cellar. The humans who made this interacted with the environment, therefore this is an example of human environment interaction. At the top of Cardigan is two more examples of human environment interaction, the fire tower, and the markers engraved into the rockface top. Humans put these on the summit, they are not part of nature. Our group created some examples of human environment interaction, such as leaving peanuts from trail mix behind, or even peeing in the forest. Someone dropped a cookie at our lunch area, where we looked at windmills in the distance, another example of human environment interaction.

This shows the geodetic survey marker engraved into the rock at the summit of Cardigan Mountain.

This shows the view of a ski mountain from the summit of Cardigan Mountain. This shows human environment interaction because the ski trails are human made.

This shows a map of the human cellar (I called it a pit).

This is a chickadee we called in using bird calls.

This shows some white ash bark we saw.

This shows the windmills we saw while eating lunch.
