The place of Cardigan Mountain

By Ned C

Cardigan Mountain has a bare rock summit. When going up the mountain you can see disidouse trees and then about halfway up they change to evergreens. There are several streams coming down the the mountain which overflow at times because of rain and make climbing difficult. Also huge bolders from glacire eratics are scattered about the mountain. Some trails are very steep but others are not so steep. Next to Cardigan Mountain is Firescrew another popular way of getting up and nice hike by its self.

At Mount Cardigan the are a lot of physical geography but there is also cultural geography. For example the fire tower at the top of mount cardigan it was made by humans to spot fires that are far away. There also cellar holes that are left over from house that were here a long time ago. Then at the bottom of the mountain is the amc lodge where we stayed. On the way down the mountain we saw a cabin that you could also stay in. Also all around the mountain we saw carens that man made out of stones.

All in all the was not as much cultural geography as physical but it still has a presence.
