Three Vocabulary Words:

1. pilgrimage- a long journey

2. enclose- to surround or close in at all sides

3. negotiate- to deal or bargain with another or others

Summary: On the return voyage of Columbus to Spain, he runs into trouble with a storm, forcing the crew to head for the Portugal-owned Azores. Unfortunately, Spain and Portugal are archenemies. Columbus is arrested, and after negotiations his crew is ordered to go to Portugal instead of to Spain.

My thoughts on changing the name from "Columbus Day" to "Indigenous Peoples' Day" are that Columbus was not nice to his crewmates. Thus, Columbus should definitely not earn a holiday named after him. We need to name the holiday "Indigenous Peoples' Day" in order to celebrate the voyage and its following events, not after someone who is undeserving.
