Location- October 18, 2017 At the top of Mt. Cardigan was where we hiked on the second day. The summit of Cardigan is north 43 degrees 39 minutes and 11 seconds, west 71 degrees 56 minutes and 52 seconds. The elevation is 3,156ft. Absolute location is when there is exact coordinates, exactly like the example I just gave. Location can also be relative, so Cardigan is just down the road from a town called bristal, or is right next to Mt. firescrew. Relative location is like saying nextdooor neighbor or saying around the corner. It is giving a location just in a different way.
Place- Physically. Mt. Cardigan physically was a really balanced and rocky place. At the bottom of cardigan it had very mellow and even ground and no rocks that you would have to step on. The floor was almost soft compared to the summit. Towards the middle of the trip up the ground was very steep and rocky. The incline in some parts could be 1 foot! Doing the final stretches to cardigan was very smooth. The rocks were very wide and long. Some parts were steep but most had a little bit of an incline. At the top it was very windy and cooler than at the bottom. Trees were everywhere and green. All in all cardigan physically was a moist, cool, rocky, steep and green place to be.
Culturally. The Mt. Cardigan trip was very culturally inclined because we played games, told stories and riddles, did song battles and skits! One skit was of my friend and his group hiking and he trips but makes it look like he was just dropping to do some push ups. The song battles were very uniqe because it involved everyone in it! The councelors would say a word that a song has in it and then the hiking groups would have to think of a existing line that is from a song. It was very very fun. The Hut had a lot of books and was extremely cozy. When it was time for story time at the end of the day we always would get comfortable in our pajamas and listen to stories of the past. The Mt. Cardigan trip very involved with cultural geography!
We were there for 3 days which were Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On the first day (Wednesday) we arrived and hiked to the old dried out beaver pond. On thursday we hiked to the summit of Mt. Cardigan, but to get there we had to hike Mt. Firescrew. The view was very breathtaking too. On the last day (Friday) we got up had a fantastic breakfast and then hiked to a nearby stream. On the stream we built a hut that could fit three people in crouch position.
