Cardigan Mountain is located in the towns of Orange and Alexandria, besides Firescrew Mountain. It is northwest of the AMC Cardigan Lodge, and is about 3,000 feet above sea level. The absolute location of the summit of Cardigan Mountain is, "43.6498° N, 71.9148° W".

The surface of Mount Cardigan rocky and uneven, with little grass. The summit of the mountain is windy, but the view of the surrounding mountains and forests is amazing.

At the summit of Mount Cardigan, there is also a fire tower. The fire tower was built by humans, atop Cardigan, which is an ideal place to look for fires, for you can see the mountains and forests surrounding the mountain from all sides.

We were at Cardigan for 3 days- Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On the first day, we arrived at the Lodge on the bus. On the second day, we climbed the mountains, and on the last day, we did activities with our groups before we left.
