Day Two

On day two the morning started off with a thorough breakfast and debriefing of the day's events. We packed our bag lunches and headed out, hiking up Firescrew and across the saddle to Cardigan. When we finally reached the summit of Mount Cardigan, I was shocked by the seemingly even yet textured rock that covered the top of mountain. Most of it looked to me like a type of granite, the weathered grays, whites, and browns mixing in a blurry slur. I sat down and dangled my feet over the edge of the elevated plate on the smoothed surface. My eyes skimming over a puddle a little ways away. Not matter how high you go, I realized, nothing will ever be the same.
