Day 1 at Cardigan! Movement-

On October 2nd, we finally were able to go to Cardigan. When we got there we played a game of rock - paper - scissors, then we were finally able to go in our rooms and unpack. After unpacking and moving it all in are room, we packed up are day packs and hiked to Welton Falls. On are way to Welton Falls we had to stop a lot and do some sketches. We also had to cross a river. We took the safest way to get across which was large rocks but they were wet and slippery. I fell on a rock and landed on my knee cap which really hurt. Some people decided to climb a tree to get to the other side but are instructor, Killion, got mad at them and they were not aloud to do that on the way back. After the river, it was either really steep or we had to go down a hill that was close to vertical. We finally got to this rock that was almost carved out by the river and the waterfall. We went in it and took a break to admire the waterfall that was below us. The movement of the waterfall was so amazing! After we took our break we started to make are decend down. When we got to the river we found an even easier path that had big rocks that were not all wet and slippery. We had to make some more sketches and then we hiked back to camp. When we got back to camp we went into are bunks and got are beds ready for the night. Then we went downstairs and hanged out with everyone. We braided hair, played card games, and just talked. At 7:30 we had dinner. It was lasagna, homemade mac and cheese, and delicoous brownies for dessert. After dinner we were told that for the evening program we are going on a night walk. We all got are packs ready and met are groups. We decided to do a night walk that walked around a pond. Killion told us that there were some parts that were muddy and so there was planks that we had to walk on and if you went off the planks then you could get stuck in the mud. The hard part was that we could not use any of are flacklights. We decided the best strategy was to hold on to the backpack in front of you. I held on to Abby Bennett’s and Louisa Behner had to hold on to mine. Midway through we did not know that right next to the path there was a ledge that went down to a pond. Abby’s foot went to close to the ledge and she slipped and fell. I tripped over her and completely fell down the ledge! All the sudden someone grabbed me and pulled me back up. (That person is unknown still to this day because no one had there flashlights on) After I was up people turned on there flashlights so sadly we lost the competition. :( Luckily no one got hurt after that and so we did not turn any other flashlights on. We got to lay down in the sark and look up at the stars which was really cool and peaceful. Killion told us that we were not aloud to talk and so we were also able to listen to the woods making noise. After we got back we had a little more free time and then Mr. Woolner read a stoy about Blackbeard. Then we had to go into are bunks and go to bed. I think that my favorite part of the day was definitly the night walk because it was super fun to walk in the dark.
