Day 1-
On day 1 of our Cardigan trip, my classmates and I had a wonderful time. Let's focus on how our experience on Day 1, relates to Movement as a theme of Geography. This day started out with us having to get to the base lodge and arriving there. So, that means we went “from” Hopkinton High School "to" the Cardigan Base Lodge.
When we got to the lodge, we played many fun and active games. Us people participated in the games in which we moved around a lot. One of the highlights of this day for me, was when we went on a hike to Welton Falls. In this situation, we went "to" and "from" the falls. This is because we started at the lodge, hiked over to the falls, and then traveled back over to the lodge. When we arrived back at the AMC Lodge after a long day of hiking, we were all very hungry. As a result, we had lasagna and macaroni and cheese for dinner. The chefs tried to keep the food as local as possible. However, this food probably needed to travel a bit. That relates to Movement because this food was probably grown, cleaned, and then moved a short distance to the lodge. Overall, this food moved a lot to end up at the AMC Lodge.
In the evening, we had the delightful experience of going on a Night Hike. Then again, we started at the base Lodge and hiked over to a campsite. In summary, my friends and I went "to" the Campsite starting "from" the lodge and vice-versa.
We then listened to Mr. Woolner read a short story or two to us. That was fun and interesting. After storytime, it was time for bed after a fun, long, and tiring day. I ended up bunking with Grace! We had a couch in our room! People moved that couch "from" the factory, "to" the store, and then it ended up in our room. When we were getting ready for bed, Mrs. Roberts came around with candy for the girls. That was simply wonderful. Overall, Day 1 was filled with many amazing and unforgettable experiences. Not only that, but it was filled with a whole lot of Movement, as a theme of Geography!
