Day 2-
Day 2 of Cardigan was also a blast. After we got up, we ate a delicious breakfast including eggs and bacon. We also went on our big hike up to Cardigan MT and my group got to go over to the Firescrew summit as well. On Thursday which was Day 2 of our trip, there was also a lot of Human-Environment Interaction going on. The scenarios that support why will be explained very shortly. Let’s get started!
To begin our day, we had a lovely breakfast of eggs and bacon. After an energizing breakfast, we were ready to hit the trail to start climbing cardigan MT! Believe it or not but, we changed the environment on Day 2 and vise- Versa! Let's learn how. My mom came up and chaperoned for the big hike. The environment of Cardigan MT, made her want to do this, she had done it before, and she knew it was gorgeous. The environment made her want to go back. Going into it the first time, she wasn't sure if it was going to be as amazing as it was, but the Environment made her think that way. Second of all, the way Cardigan MT looks and feels (the environment of Cardigan) made our class want to be there because we saw pictures of other people there. We went because we wanted to have the same experience! Some of us were nervous about climbing the mountain, and sleeping at the lodge but, the environment made us enjoy it. So, the environment made us think, “Huh, this must be cool, let’s go!” All in all, the environment made us feel this way. Isn’t that cool?
Now, this is not great but, on our hike, every now and then we would break sticks, or split a leaf, things that kids frequently do because well, we’re kids! That is obviously changing the environment for many reasons. One reason being this, somebody else didn't get to see that beautiful leaf on the tree/ plant or on the ground, maybe even changing their perspective of the environment in that area. In this situation, humans were changing the environment, but not necessarily in a good way. When reaching the summit of Cardigan, we were all so happy. It was then time for lunch. We then headed over to Firescrew. After hiking Cardigan and then over to Firescrew, we were back at the base lodge. The environment of the base lodge, made us want to get back, after already reaching 2 summits in one day!!
Some of us weren’t even sure what the base lodge was going to be like, but, the environment of the lodge made us want to be there. When we stepped into the lodge, we went from being freezing cold to really warm! The environment of the lodge just changed how we felt. Next thing you know, there was hot chocolate available to us. It was delicious. After hanging out and drinking hot chocolate, it was time for dinner. For dinner, we had sloppy joes and other meat. We went from really hungry to really full quickly! After eating dinner, We had a lovely campfire. It was huge! At the campfire, we sang many songs and had so much fun. The camp staff did really funny skits for us. It was totally worth it, but the smoke from the campfire, changed the environment ever so slightly because it polluted the air a little bit, but it was definitely worth it because it was so much fun! However, it did change the environment. To relax after a very busy day, Mr. Woolner read us some of a book. It was very good. After a wonderful day full of Human-Environment Interaction, it was time for bed. I think it's fair to say that most everybody was exhausted.
