September 27th was the 3rd day the 7th grade was at Mt. Cardigan. It was also the most hectic morning of the three. I woke up late, and scrambled to pack up all my belongings before we had to go down for breakfast. We had breakfast sausage with scrambled eggs and tater tots. I ate quickly then rushed upstairs to get dressed and go hiking. I filled my water bottle, and then rushed down to the mudroom to put on my shoes and meet with my group. Today we would be going to Welton Falls, and doing a small river study, and then returning back to Contoocook. We would be tailing Erin's group the whole way, but far enough so we don't get distracted by them. Soon after we started to hike, we played some camouflage, and are you aware, to kill a little time. We then hiked with small 5 minute brakes only to drink and sketch our surroundings. Nothing interesting happened on the way there, except we got to cross a river, and the cliffs from above was quite an interesting view. When we arrived at the bottom of the cliff, Erin's group was already there. We ate lunch together, then took the pH of the water. We sketched the waterfall, then decided to leave, for we didn't too much time remaining. Mr. Woolner stopped us when we got onto the trail to tell us a tale about hemlock trees. When the story was finished, my group went ahead instead, and we hiked the entire trail with 1 or 2 breaks for water. We made it back to the lodge with 20 minutes to spare, which we used to chit-chat with the other groups returning from their hikes. We filled out a form about how we liked the trip, then boarded the bus and left. To be honest, I was a little sad to leave. I had a ton of fun with my friends, and I enjoyed hiking with my group, despite knowing nobody there. I would definitely go on this trip again if I could.
