Arriving At Cardigan Lodge

DAY 1 - Theme is Movement

We first got on the bus at Hmhs and drove to Cardigan. The Amc lodge crew had to drive to the lodge for work. Mr. Woolner brought all of our baggage to and from Cardigan. Finally we came back to the lodge to eat dinner and talk with Mr. Woolner about the bed time schedule.

On the first day at Mount Cardigan, we arrived around 9:00 and excitedly got off the bus to explore our lodge we would be staying in for the next couple of days. Mr. Woolner then told us to go upstairs to see our new bunks! Next we changed into our hiking gear and headed down to the common area to have a chat about the groups and schedule. Once done talking, I went to greet my guide, Shawn, and asked him about the compass course which is what he said we would be doing first. At this time, we started our short journey to the spot where I did the compass course. After that, all of us went to the pond across from the lodge to sketch the lodge and discuss what we learned about the compass course. Finally, we ventured back to the lodge to start our nightly routine. First off, Mr. Woolner told us to get changed into our pajamas and get ready for dinner. I believe our dinner was spaghetti and meatballs, and they were delicious! After dinner, we were informed that Mr. Woolner wanted to read us night time stories in the common area. Finally, I hurriedly walked up the stairs to my bunk to settle in for the night and talk to my friends in my bunk. The first day at Cardigan was a blast! I got to experience fun, new things and got used to our new lodge. This was easily the best field trip ever.
