The Day We Hiked Cardigan

On the second day of Cardigan, we started off the day by Mr. Woolner knocking on our door telling us its time to get up. Then I went downstairs and grabbed a seat at one of the tables for breakfast. Our breakfast consisted of bacon, tater tots, scrambled eggs, and a nice cold glass of water. After breakfast Mr. Woolner gathered us all up in the common area to talk about the big hike up Mount Cardigan and Firescrew. Next everyone went over to their groups and started the hike up the mountain. First off, my group decided to go in front of all the other groups because my group were fast walkers. The hike up was very steep and tiring but my group took a lot of breakes which was nice. It was very calm and cold when we started to get to the higher elevation. The top of Frescrew was really cool. It had an amazing view and you could see Cardigan. Then we hiked up a little trail, and before you know it, we had reached the summit of Mt Cardigan! It was very breezy and cold. Shawn rewarded us with cheez-Its and oreos! We sat down, had some snacks, and sketched the landscape. My group had the summit to ourselves because we were the first group up there. Finally we started heading down the mountain. The hike back was fairly easy but had some hard parts. Then we arrived back at the lodge and relaxed, had dinner and went to bed! For dinner we had delicious Burgers! The second day at Cardigan was a blast! We hiked to the summit and were exposed to new things!

Day 2 Theme is Regions

The weather was very nice the day that we left HMHS to go to Cardigan. The drive there was very hilly and bumpy. With many different types of trees all around us. Sometimes we were in another small town then sometimes we would be in a forest. We took a lot of backroads to Cardigan. Next we drove on a long dirt road until we reached Cardigan lodge. It was very cold up there and with trees that we don’t see often in Hopkinton. Finally we entered the big white lodge and started exploring.
