Day 3 at Cardigan - Regions

On our three day of Cardigan I was sad I had to go, however I couldn't wait to get home. We had to wake up early in the morning and I was not happy about that. I had to pack up all of my stuff and make sure our room was the same way me and my bunk mates found it. Luckily we got to have hot chocolate in the morning and breakfast was delicious. We got french toast casserole with bacon, and eggs. After that we got dressed in our hiking gear and made sure our rooms were completely packed up, then we put our bags in the trailer and went to our meeting groups. For our last hike my group would be going to Welton Falls. Right off the bat we sketched an old foundation that we found on the beginning of our hike. It was made out of old stones and must have been a foundation for a house or barn. We kept going and it was nice and easy because it was all downhill. Finally we reached the waterfall, it was even better than I imagined. We got to eat lunch at the waterfall and listen to the beautiful sound of water crashing against the rocks. Once we finished we sketched the waterfall, unfortunately my sketch looked like a piece of paper a two year old scribbled on. I still liked it though. Sadly we had started heading back, and it was all uphill. We sketched birch tree leaves and Partridge Berries. When we were at the very end of the trail we even saw a garden snake! Once all of the groups were back it was time to go. We hopped on the bus and talked about everything we did the whole ride back to school. I made so many amazing memories at a cardigan and had such an amazing time.

Our day three at Cardigan reminded me of Regions, one of the five themes of geography. Regions are Areas that are defined by some type of characteristic. Some examples would be Welton falls, or the top of Mount Cardigan. When we were at Cardigan we also learned about Forest regions. Forest regions are different parts of a forest that are different from others. An example would be the top of Mount Cardigan, where there is mostly bear rock and the trees near the top of the mounting are built for colder weather.
