What we did on the first day of the Mount Cardigan trip with 7th grade. Before we even got to the Mountain, we got up very early, said our goodbyes to our families and got on a bus. After 1.5 hours on the bus with the loud kids, we finally made it to the AMC lodge, where we stayed for the rest of the trip. Right as we pulled into the lodge, there were kids out of their seats and wanting to go inside. We all went to our designated floors and unpacked to get ready for our first hike of the trip. This was not a long hike, just one to stretch our legs and to get a feel for the hikes to come. The mountain was beautiful and the waterfall was amazing. We saw different kinds of trees, one was the Maple Tree. Mr. Woolner told us that the Maple Tree actually originated in Asia and slowly came to the U.S. More movement examples are, HMHS students went to Cardigan Mountain for a field trip to learn about the environment there. HMHS students left Cardigan Mountain because they were done hiking and they wanted to see their parents. Not only do people leave Cardigan Mountain but so do things, one thing is a car or bus. The two last examples are, people have brought recipes to the AMC lodge, so people can have good meals to eat well staying there. Also HMHS students brought back the information about cardigan to learn how to make a webpage. We ate our lunch on the trail, most eating sandwiches or something that was easy to pack. After the hike we got back and waited until dinner was going to be served. Everyone was talking about what they saw and where they went. Dinner was amazing, with something for everyone. As people were starting to finish up eating we went outside and played a game. Later when the games were done we all went back inside and Mr. Woolner told us a few stories. After a very long and tiring day, out of the three to come, everyone headed off to bed and that was our first day at Cardigan Mountain.
