We went to Odiorne and walked around it and looked at different rocks and seaweed and other things. We discovered cool species of crabs and identified different sea life. We mainly went there to learn about what is at the seacoast and learn about the tidal zones.
Black Zone: The black zone is called the black zone for one reason, it's black! It is black because it is covered with a substance called cyanobacteria, which is basically black algae. When it is covered, the entire rock turns to the color black, and the substance is hard to get off.
Brown Zone: The brown zone is called the brown zone because it is brown! It is brown because it has a bunch of seaweed all over it, which happens to be brown. Although this is called the brown zone, it still also has the cyanobacteria all over it as well.
I think that the most interesting zone is the white zone, which has a lot of tidal pools and lots of wildlife. I would of picked the brown zone, but there is an overwhelming amout of seaweed and is hard to find things in there. In the white zone at odiorne, I found many things such as crabs, hermit crabs, sea cucumbers, and even a baby lobster. Below you can see two creatures that I saw, a perrywinkle and a green crab.
