On Day 2, once I woke up, I went downstairs and played Uno and Chess with other people while breakfast was being made. After breakfast we broke up into groups again and made a plan of what trail we were gonna take and set off into the woods. During our hike I found an orange salamander and showed it to the rest of the group. After that, we took multiple breaks either to have a snack or to sketch a plant. Once we got to our first summit, Rim Rock, we had lunch and our AMC guide surprised us with Oreos. 30 minutes later we set off again and took a final sketch before we reached the summit of Mt. Cardigan. We waited for the other groups and then took a group picture. Next we finished viewing the incredible sights before we headed back down the mountain. Later, we got back and exhaustedly went up to our bunks and had freetime til dinner. Afterwards, the guides took everyone outside and we huddled around the campfire as the guides told us that we would have to perform a skit about Leave No Trace. My group and I performed the best skit, (in my opinion). But then, we were taken into the woods and had 10 minutes of darkness and quietness. Finally, we went inside, heard another story from Mr.Woolner before we went to bed.
Day 2: Regions
The day two theme is Regions. This is because during day two, we climbed Mt. Cardigan and passed through many regions. Starting at the top, the bare rock region is all granite with quartz infused within. Below, the alpine region grows profusely with fir clubmoss and birch. And at the bottom, in the Northern Hardwood Forest, spruce, maple, beech, and hemlock are found everywhere. These are examples of Regions on day two of Cardigan.
