The first day of Cardigan was very eventful. Mr. Woolner made sure that we would not get bored. First, we filled out a quick survey while our instructors went over our agenda for the afternoon. After, we were sorted into groups we set out on the trail. My instructor's names were Heidi and Erin, and we hiked the nature loop. On our hike we sketched and played games. While we were on the trail we talked about the next day and how it would all work out. We also talked about what the area around Cardigan used to be like. Erin told us that Native Americans used to live in the area of Cardigan mountain. On our way back to the lodge we stopped to read a story about the land and how Cardigan lodge was built. We sketched some pictures and created a group name, The Hairy Shreks. After our hike we had free time, so I took a shower and then went outside to play Uno. For dinner we had spaghetti and meatballs, then went outside to have our evening program. There were stone walls around the edge of the lawn which originated in Scotland. For our activity, we learned about echolocation. Sean explained that bats use echolocation to search for food and then we played an activity. Finally, Mr. Woolner read a story and we were off to bed. Our first day at Cardigan was very eventful and only led up to more over the course of the trip.
