The Cardigan Lodge is in the middle of nowhere! We drove an hour into the New Hampshire wilderness. The lodge was surrounded by evergreen and deciduous trees. There was a big pond near the lodge. The building was three or four stories high and gray on the outside. It has lots of windows to look out at the beautiful mountains, forest and animals. The lower level is used for people who are packing up for a trip. Using the stairs to go up to the next level, we found a kitchen, dining and visiting area with soft seats. Taking the stairs up again, there are many bunk rooms and bath facilities. I saw a baby bear cub on the ride home. We went hiking and enjoyed the beautiful fall foliage.
