Day one (The most anticipated day where I learned about regions) Cardigan Joab O.
September 25, 2022
Day one, we arrived at around lunchtime maybe a little before. We did a quick ice-breaker activity and then grabbed our stuff and put it on our beds. Then we grabbed our day packs and walked down to the library where we would put on our hiking boots and talk about our group and what activities we are going to do for the next couple of days. For our first activity we did a thing called a Compass Course, this is when our guide gives us a landmark and then we figure out which direction is north and walk however many paces she tells us to walk. Then we take a break and eat lunch. When we got back we had free time and many of us got right into our PJs because we were cold and wet, or we had a nice cup of warm hot cocoa maybe stay in our bunk rooms or went downstairs to the common area and played some games. For dinner we had salad with Italian dressing bread rolls pasta with meatballs and thats about it. After that it was time for another 20 minutes of free time and then story time after that it was around 9 so we had an hour before lights out. That day I learned the story of Blackbeard.
Day one: Regions Some examples of regions that we saw on day 1 at Cardigan, were that we saw a big grassy field with a bench, ski slope and a wooded area. In the field, the grass was kind of dying, so it did not look that nice. Another region was the ski slope. It was a steep, clear field. The other region was the wooded area. It surrounded the grassy field and the ski slope. It was full of trees like hemlocks, birch, and even some maple. There were also some pines and many more.
