On day one at Cardigan Lodge, we arrived and explored. Our day started around 10:00 when we got on the bus, with all of our overnight stuff in Mr. Woolner trailer, to go to Cardigan. When we got there, we ate lunch in the dining hall and unpacked our things into our bunkrooms. We also met our hiking group, came up with a group name, RED DEAD TUMBLING TREES OR PEOPLE. After we made our agreement/pact for rules during cardigan. Our agreement included do nott fall seven times. After we made our agreement we went for our first hike of the trip, to Welton Falls, a waterfall about one mile out from the Lodge. I marked several waypoints on the GPS every time we stopped to sketch or had a snack. When we got to Welton falls we tested the water for its health, and came back with an excellent result. On our way back we went to a small cave just above the waterfall, so we could see it more clearly, it was beautiful. When we returned, we played uno and life. And before we went outside to do our after dinner activity, we ate dinner. When we were finished with that activity, in which we played the game Bat and Moth, as well as sitting in Silence, we got ready for bed. And just before lights out, which was at 10:00 we heard a bedtime story about a pirate from Mr. Woolner. It was an amazing day, and just the first of three.

Regions- An area defined by certain characteristics, usually has a border or change of some kind between regions.

We also learned about Regions, areas defined by certain characteristics unique to that area, or region. One of the larger regions we learned about were the forest regions of Cardigan and surrounding mountains. There are three regions on Cardigan, the Hardwood region, the Boreal region, and the alpine region. The hardwood forest is mainly made up of oaks, maples, and other trees like that, as well as a lot of small shrubs. The Boreal zone is made up of spruce and fir trees. The entire forest floor is covered with moss. As a sharp contrast, the Alpine zone is mainly bare rock, with some patches of fragile plants that can grow in the cold and higher altitude than the plants that live in the boreal and hardwood forest zones. When we walked to Welton falls we all learned and witnessed the diversity of the forest.
