Our group in Geography! class, had went to take a super nice field trip to Odiorne. The day was great, and had perfect weather for the field trip. Once at Odiorne, we changed into our 'sacrifical sneakers' and had walked on the rocky hills, and into the water to find some cool looking tiny creatures. Most of us had found Green Crabs, Sea Urchins, Limpets (which are little creatures who sometimes stick on rocks, similar to barnacles, but when you pick them up and tickle their stomach, they crunch up into a little ball. It was fun to see!), Bumblegum Algae, and even some baby lobsters. Then, on our way back, we all got ice cream. The trip to Odiorne was my favorite trip this year.
The Red Zone is a zone near the shorelines in the water where it includes a reddish irish moss covering around it, including it being covered with surrounded by water that is covering it. The Red Zone is in the intertidal zone, close to the lower tide zone. It also includes little organisms such as sea stars, cyanobacteria, barnacles, and some perrywinkles, and possibly some sea lace. The Red Zone is also directly right under the Brown Zone, which is the inner layer close to the low tide region near the rocks and in the water.
The Splash Zone is another zone that is known in the intertidal regions in the water near shorelines. This zone in the water is much closer to the surface than the Red Zone, which is closer to the lower tide region, which is much lower than where the surface is. This zone includes huge black rocks, covered with cyanobacteria, and is surrounded by a few barnacles, possibly some bricks, rockweed, and maybe even some purple algae.
I think the most life is near the Red Zone. I think this because inside the Red Zone, you can possibly find sea stars, cyanobacteria, barnacles, and some perrywinkles, and possibly some sea lace. Plus, the climate and temperature down there is probably I'd guess around kinda colder since it's nearer and closer to the lower-tide region. The photo below will depict of what's known as a Green Crab and a Sea Urchin, which are normally found in the higher-tide regions, and lower-tide regions. I drew them myself! :)
