This is our loop we took around Cardigan and Firescrew!

HUMAN ENVIRONMENT/INTERACTION!!

On day two we had our longest hike. We ate eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns, and I sat with Gemma, Zoey, Aidan, Mason, and Porter. We started out our hike by walking up the trail we had walked the day before, but it soon branched off to us climbing up a slippery hill, and drew chicken of the woods. Behind us was Max's group, and the hill was steep, so we took lots of breaks. We crossed over a stream and I took lots of pictures of Tabitha sitting on a tree. I recorded Cooper and Ollie, and we took a snack break, and I had a clif bar. When we got to Firescrew we ate lunch, and I sat with Tabitha, Ella Mai, and Ava. I had a ham sandwich and an apple. We saw lots of Carrions, but Sean would not let us make our own, because it can mix up the wildlife. We stomped in puddles and walked in mud, and flicked bits of water at each other, and I took lots of photos and I got videos of Ollie being a goat. My fingers were very cold pretty much the whole time, and I put on gloves because I was so cold. However, with the gloves it was very hard to climb. When we were at the top of Cardigan we ate Cheez-Its and Oreos, and Cooper threw them at me, while I interviewed him and Ollie. There was lots of markings on the ground and scratches, and coordinates and words to help identify that the mountain was Cardigan. We went and stood in the shelter of the tower, and if you walked up a level it was so windy it was like blowing you around! I stayed on the ground for most of it. We sat with Caroline's group while Erin read us a book, and then Tabitha and I talked with accents the whole way down. Ollie and Cooper continued to throw sticks and rocks around, and we sat on logs to draw and take waypoints. Tabitha rolled her ankle and dropped her water bottle in the water, and in an attempt to get it she fell in! We then walked through a project that AMC was doing to make some of the trails wheelchair accessible by putting down very thin gravel and making the trails very flat. Soon we got back to the lodge, debriefed, showered, and ate dinner! For dinner we had burgers, and then molasses cookies for dessert. Afterwards we played uno and did hair. We listened to Mr. Woolner tell us a story, and we stargazed at the night sky and learned about constellations, and then went and got candy from Mrs. Stevenson. I switched bunk rooms so I was in one with Gemma, Zoey, Kate, and Tabitha, and we spent a lot of the night talking and laughing together.

My second theme is human environment/interaction. This is about how people interact and change the environment. They are always changing and working on the environment. An example of this is the wheelchair accessible paths, because people are interacting and changing them, and then people will interact with them by using them!

What the pictures mean:

The water under the bridge is when we were coming down and back to the lodge, and we were standing on a bridge, and if you looked up there was a rock waterfall which led down into a stream. This is where Tabitha dropped her waterbottle into the water and then fell in.

The fallen tree over path is where we were walking up and there was a tree that had fallen in two about 10 feet up, and it had created almost an archway to walk through.

The leaf on trail was when we found a leaf on the ground, and it was pretty colors, so we took a break and sketched.

The scotch pine was very tall and pretty, so we couldn't NOT draw it!!
