This is our walk to Welton falls and back, and then our drive back on the bus to the school!

REGIONS!!

Day three was our last day, so we left early. In the morning we drank hot cocoa and played uno, and I went outside for a second to look at the beautiful fall colors and the sunrise that was just starting to peak over the trees at the end of the clearing. The grass was covered in dew and there were still marks on the ground from where people had laid on the ground, and there was still charcoal in the firepit from the night before. It was cold and you could see your breath in the air, and even though I had socks on I could still feel the cold deck under my feet. For breakfast we had french toast casserole, which tasted like french toast but was in squares, like brownies but thicker. They were very heavy and filling, so I was full after one. After breakfast we went upstairs and packed our stuff, cleaning and putting stuff in our cozy little wood furnished room, and when done we then headed to Welton falls. Welton falls is a large waterfall, which has rock all around it. It spills down onto a moss and you need to cross a river to get to it. You begin by walking into a clearing with picnic tables and a bathroom, and then you walk downstairs, and then continue by walking up and down hills. During the walk you come to a cliff made of earth, where a little more earth falls off every year. It was dangerous to stand next to it because there was no support under the cliff. We began by sketching a foundation of an old house, and then we walked along the trail, where it was very hilly. You had to grab onto lots of rocks and roots because it was so tall in some parts. But, when we got to see the gorgeous waterfall it was all worth it. When we got to Welton falls we ate lunch, and I shared mine with Tabitha because she forgot hers. I had a ham sandwich and I gave her my apple and clif bar, and then we sketched the waterfall. Tabitha and I took lots of photos together, and then I took some photos of the waterfall itself. On the way back Mr. Woolner jammed his finger, and we drew partridge berries. They are little red berries surrounded by light green in the center and dark green on the outside leaves, and they grow in little groups. They grow close to the ground. When we crossed the river on the way back Tabitha fell into the water for the second time, and soaked her whole boot and sock with water and got the boot and sock all muddy as well. Once we got back to the lodge, we debriefed and then said goodbye to Sean, and soon it was time to head home, so we boarded the bus, waved and then began the trek home to have a soccer game.

Regions is how you describe something. When you are describing a place you have been or you are giving an example, that is using regions. If you do not know the exact latitude and longitude or address of a place, you can use regions to explain the surroundings and what signs you can use to tell. For example: When we were walking around taking the latitude and longitude of places that we found on our booklet when we did the compass course, that would be an example of regions.

The pictures above:

The picture on the top left is Welton falls, which is a big gorgeous waterfall that fell into a large stream, and had boulders all around it.

The picture on the top right is the stone foundation in the woods, which had big supports coming out of the ground and a tree growing out of it.

The stone wall picture on the bottom is a rock wall we saw when we were walking, surrounded by trees.
