Our Last Day at Cardigan - Welton Falls

Day three was our last day at Cardigan and to conclude our time there we did one last hike. Our group and one other hiked to Welton Falls. On our way there Heidi quizzed our group on the 50 states to pass the time. We also stopped along the way to do some sketching. Once we arrived at the waterfall, both groups sat down to eat lunch. After lunch we did a few tests on the water in the river including finding the pH levels and temperature. Before hiking back, Mr. Woolner educated us on Hemlock trees. The walk back to the lodge was more difficult than the hike there because now, it was mostly uphill. Eventually, we arrived back at the lodge where other groups were already taking a survey outside. We joined them and had time to rest before leaving Cardigan when the bus arrived.

Human Environment Interaction

The different tests we did on the water are all tests that effect biotic factors, such as ourselves. For example, the temperature of the water effects how utilized the water is. If it's cold, people are less likely to swim in it or use it for other things. People are also less likely to use the water because of how far of a hike it is. These are all examples of how nature effects humans. As well as just nature effecting us, we also have our effects on nature. Depending on how much we use the water, it could effect the plants and animals that live in the river. If we pollute the water, it could kill the biotic factors in the river. However, if we use it too much, we could lower the water levels. The examples that I just gave you represent a theme of geography, human environment interaction.
