Duke's Meadow on Cardigan has an obvious tree line on the field as well as the fields around Cardigan lodge. The trails also have an obvious border where there is nothing stopping you from hiking up to the summit of Mount Cardigan. Another example of region on Mount Cardigan is the summit. The Mount Cardigan summit has bare rock showing the summit from a distance. Also, when your at the top of Mount Cardigan there is also a very visible tree line where you can walk into the forest back to the Cardigan AMC lodge.
On the first day of the mount cardigan trip, I was a little confused on what we were going to do. I didn't know for sure if we were going to hike before we ate lunch or organized our rooms, but I eventually got the hang of it. It took about an hour to get there by bus. When we got there, we all gathered on the lawn to the left of the lodge. The instructors explained what we were going to do on the three day trip. Then we played some outside games and did some other activities. Finally, we were allowed to go inside and organize our rooms. Next we were all called downstairs, split into our hiking groups, and went hiking outside. Of course not before making sure we had everything we needed an making sure everyone new about all of the rules. About every 20-30 minutes we sketched a mushroom or a plant in our sketchbooks. After our last sketch we ate a snack and hiked back to the lodge. Once we got there we played another small game then we started our hour of free time which was probably my favorite part of everyday. Afterward we ate dinner and then everyone showered. By the end of the day everyone was somewhat tired and listened to the stories that Mr. Woolner read aloud. By then everyone was ready for bed so we all went to bed and fell asleep.
