The place of Cardigan Mountain has three main zones, the northern forest zone, the boreal zone, and the alpine zone. Inside the northern forest zone there was many different hardwood trees including beech trees, some conifer trees like hemlock, but mostly closely packed beech trees. In the boreal zone there was a few deciduous trees like yellow birch and paper birch, but no more beech, there was some lichen on the trees called old man's beard, and we also saw some sphagnum moss. Next we saw some crooked gray trees called Krummholz, which means, "crooked trees" in German. The next zone was the alpine zone, which had a lot of small, close to the ground evergreens that had stiff leaves.
The place of Cardigan Mountain Lodge had four floors, the shoe room floor, the dining room/stories room, the girls floor, and the boys floor. On the shoe room floor there was boots, coats, and sneakers. There was also a little room with chairs and books in front of the stairs. On the dining room/stories floor there was 8 tables, 16 benches, a kitchen with cooks in it, a long couch, 2 rocking chairs, a coffee table, another chair, and a small bookcase with books on it. On the girls floor there was girls, boys and girls bathrooms, showers, beds, ladders, clothes. On the boys floor there was rooms with beds in them. There were beds, boys, clothes, a skylight, a bookshelf, a chair, a fireplace, and a ventilation system that doubled as a communication system.
