Day two was definitely different than I thought it would be, but day 1 had left me excited to sleep, eat, and hike again. When we got up, the first thing I saw was the mess that had somehow accumulated over the span of a day. We hiked up Firescrew then over to Cardigan, which was a beautiful 6 mile hike. We also hiked through a couple of different regions, such as the hemlock regions that popped up multiple times in multiple different spots. Coming down was even better, the reason why? Well, you knew once you got back you would be able to go up and sit on your bunk, freeing you blistering feet from the pressure of your body. The freetime was fun, but I personally felt like it was too long, definitely because food was coming after. I would probably say that Firescrew was definitely better than Cardigan, the views along the way (along with the summit view), the hike up (In fairness, I did not hike up Cardigan, but did hike down), the scattered big rocks that littered the trail, making it so you needed to climb. All of these are my favorites, and reasons why hiking is something that appeals to me, is a hobby, and is enjoyable to me. Many people may just say that hiking up Cardigan was definitely better, mainly because of the shorter hike, but I think they are wrong. I think they missed an experience that they can never get again, climbing over a challenge that you did not think you could. I do not think they missed that experience though, because we all get chances to beat the challenges in life. But what I think they missed was the opportunity to do it with people around you who are your friends, who care about. That is what they missed, and to me, that is what hiking is. And while I also got this lesson, I got to see many unexplainable things, unspeakable joy, and saw animals homes, and food!
